Demesne was originally conceived in 2003 to channel traffic to Canright's affiliate sites. In its five-year history, it has grown substantially and been linked to as an authority site by many publications, schools, and library sites. In November 2007, it was favorably reviewed by House & Garden Northwest (HGNW).
